As the Sichuan pepper harvest season once again arrives, on July 12, 2018, a delegation comprising leaders and experts from the Zhaotong Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, relevant departments of the Ludian County Government, the Nanjing Institute for Comprehensive Utilization of Wild Plants, Jiuxin Biochemical Group Co., Ltd., Zhaotong Dacheng Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., and the Zhaotong Green Sichuan Pepper Expert Workstation—along with representatives from other enterprises and institutions—conducted an on-site inspection of the green Sichuan pepper cultivation base and the deep-processing facility in Ludian County, Zhaotong City.

Mr. Wang Haibo, Vice President of Jiuxin Biochemical Group Co., Ltd., Mr. Zhang Weiming, Director of the Nanjing Institute for the Comprehensive Utilization of Wild Plants, and their delegation ventured into the arid, scorching canyon region of the Niulanjiang River basin in Ludian, at elevations between 600 and 1,400 meters, finding themselves amidst vast, sprawling green Sichuan pepper plantations.
Thanks to ample sunlight and heat, significant diurnal temperature variation, and unique soil and climatic conditions, Ludian green Sichuan peppercorns are of exceptional quality each year. They are characterized by thick skins, large oil glands, a pure, robust numbing flavor, and a long-lasting aroma—qualities that have earned unanimous recognition from leading experts.

In particular, efforts to advance the application and standardization of green Sichuan pepper essential oil in the daily‑chemical sector, as well as the scientific development of green Sichuan pepper‑based soap bases, will be swiftly launched, thereby bolstering the diversified growth of Zhaotong’s green Sichuan pepper industry.
